As a Sexual Offenders Assessment Board Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting pre-sentencing and pre-parole investigations of persons convicted of sexually violent offenses for the SOAB.  Duties include but are not limited to conducting personal and criminal background investigations of convicted sex offenders and preparing investigation reports for SOAB members to use in conducting Sexually Violent Predator assessments for the courts and risk assessments for the Pennsylvania Parole Board; and face-to-face forensic interviews with convicted sex offenders and collateral interviews with employers, family members and friends, and a wide variety of criminal justice and social service practitioners, including institutional personnel, police officers, district attorneys, county court staff, state parole agents, county probation officers, and children and youth workers to obtain information for the preparation of comprehensive investigation reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40 hours/week).
  • Work hours: Hours and days will vary in accordance with union side letter.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
  • This position is home headquartered.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $57,793.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of professional experience in victims assistance, social welfare case work, law enforcement, or probation/parole which included six months of investigation of sexually violent crimes, sex crime counseling work or sex offender parole supervision and a bachelor's degree.
Necessary Special Requirement:
  • Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania driver's license.
