The Department of Agriculture is looking for a committed individual to fill the role of State Dog Warden. In this position, you will enforce dog laws, prioritize the welfare and safety of dogs in the state, and utilize your organizational and problem-solving skills. As a State Dog Warden (Dog Law Enforcement Warden) you will be responsible for enforcing the State Dog Law (Act 18), Rabies Law (Act 181) and any other applicable statues as well as inspecting dogs to determine if they are licensed as required. Duties include investigating complaints pertaining to dogs running at large and investigating dog bites which can involve placing quarantines on dogs to ensure public safety, conducting investigations to settle claims for damages to livestock or poultry caused by dogs, and preparing reports for payment of damages. Other responsibilities include conducting investigations of and issuing reports on suspected illegal transportation or killing of dogs as well as out of state dealers as well as researching and investigating illegal and unlicensed kennels. This includes receiving complaints regarding illegal kennels, inhumane kennel conditions, and other violations of state dog laws. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Travel and overtime is required as needed.
- This position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in Berks County. If applicant does not live in Berks County, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in Berks County and the work day will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle.
- This position occasionally report to Region 7's office in Montgomery.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or animal science work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
