Job Duties
The incumbent of this position would perform full range of structural procedures to ensure that the mission of the Virginia Air Guard is accomplished. This position includes but not limited to planning, installation, fabrication, maintenance and repairs to the 203rd RED HORSE Squadron facilities. Structures will consist of wood, masonry, concrete and/or metal. Supporting other trades areas in their endeavors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of the practices of the carpentry trade; knowledge of qualities, adaptability and uses of wood and various hardware;
- Ability to use all tools and equipment of the trade in a competent manner;
- Ability to work from simple blueprints, sketches, drawings and/or oral instructions; working knowledge of various trade areas such as masonry, metal work, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
- Knowledge of various welding techniques to include stick, MIG, and TIG welding procedures.
- Ability to solder copper tubing and connect PVC fittings.
- Possess the ability to Supervise and train others on various construction projects to include framing, drywall, suspended ceilings, and various floor coverings.
- Able to operate and read a multi meter.
- Considerable knowledge of construction techniques and National Building, Electrical and Plumbing Codes.
- Knowledgeable in roofing system and roofing installations and repair.
- Knowledge of door hardware and locking devices.
- Some experience in operating ditch-witch, forklift and Man Lift (JLG).
- Extensive years of Experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school/ GED with post high school certificate (preferred)
Valid Driver’s License and Commercial License (preferred)
