The UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center (UVACCC) seeks a program coordinator to facilitate and support Translational Pipeline activities. The Translational Pipeline was established to support the translation of scientific discoveries into tangible advancements to improve the lives of patients and includes steps to bring a discovery to early phase investigator-initiated clinical trials and/or the licensing and commercialization of discoveries. The UVACCC Translational Pipeline Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Research Development and Collaborations in overseeing, developing, and tracking activities associated with the pipeline. This is an in-person position however hybrid/remote options may also be available.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between UVACCC members, external entities, and community organizations
- Identify and connect researchers with internal and external resources to support translational research
- Work with the communications team to develop and routinely update Translational Pipeline website content, announcements, and other communications
- Create databases to collect data from multiple sources and disseminate it to diverse end users.
- Track metrics related to pipeline activities and progress
Minimum RequirementsEducation: Master's degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing
- Experience in commercializing intellectual property, product management, research, or tech transfer
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong alliances internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities
- Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail.
- Time management and problem-solving skills; identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities and develop a course of action.
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
Physical DemandsThis is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
