Our Technical Publications Team is recruiting for a Manager who can thrive in a fast paced environment.
How You'll help us connect the world:
The lead is accountable for managing the assignments and track the progress of the assigned writers working on FI/ICX switches. The responsibilities include working closely with the FI/ICX core team to understand the upcoming releases, follow up on a confirmed feature list, prepare a schedule for the delivery of the documents, assign the features to the writers, supervise progress, and raise any concerns with the core team.
Typically has 8 or more years relevant experience in Technical Communications in the Networking Industry
- Experience with developing documentation plans to match engineering schedules
- Responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of the documentation, leading teams of 4-8 writers
- Excellent writing skills and experience writing end-user documents, such as configuration, installation and troubleshooting for advanced networking features
- Communicate status and issues in appropriate forums.
- Mentor members of staff with less writing experience.
- Very knowledgeable of industry-wide authoring, production, and help build technologies and standard methodologies. Experience in the implementation of XML and DITA-based content management systems.
- Has complete understanding of technical writing concepts, processes, authoring tools, and issues and is expected to provide assistance to others
- Provides direction for the overall information architecture of one or more product documentation sets within a product line. Experience with information architecture and content management, with 5-10 years’ experience
- Demonstrates in-depth understanding of user documentation requirements or product requirements and shows skill in completing projects consistent with customer needs
- In a large or complex team, is a leader either technically or organizationally; strong influence on multiple products; work may require coordination with other departments or divisions; makes significant contribution or leads multiple/complex projects; will often serve as a lead writer in a major product
- Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation skills
- Interfaces well with any group; capable of representing company on a wide range of documentation methodology topics
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Interactive Learning, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience, or master’s degree with 6-10 years industry experience
- Good to have: Professional Certificate or equivalent in Project Management
