About The Job
The Press Brake / Laser Operator will be responsible for operating the machines for press brake and laser cutting. Press Brake / Laser Operator must be able to troubleshoot any malfunctions or issues the machines may experience. The operator is responsible for keeping a clean and safe work environment, assisting others when needed and complying with all safety procedures.
This position will functionally report to the Sheet Metal Foreman and work primary in a group fabrication setting.

The Press Brake / Laser Operator will be responsible for operating the machines for press brake and laser cutting. Press Brake / Laser Operator must be able to troubleshoot any malfunctions or issues the machines may experience. The operator is responsible for keeping a clean and safe work environment, assisting others when needed and complying with all safety procedures.
This position will functionally report to the Sheet Metal Foreman and work primary in a group fabrication setting.
Responsibilities:
- Apply 5S Manufacturing for Performance Standards.
- Responsible for and applying all Health and Safety practices.
- Operate fiber laser cutting machines to cut and shape metal materials according to specifications.
- Set up and adjust machine settings, such as speed and power, based on material type and thickness.
- Perform routine maintenance on all machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform any other duties as required by Supervisor within department to achieve company goals.
- Follow the hour-by-hour chart to hit daily goals.
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend, form, and shape sheet metal according to cut cards and specifications.
- Select and install appropriate tooling as needed.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and trim releases.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and cut card specifications.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to achieve desired results.
- Monitor machine operation to detect any issues or malfunctions.
- General warehouse duties such as lifting.
- Shop clean-up at the end of each day.
- Maintain a good workflow.
- Follow instructions from supervisors.
- Follow and comply with all safety procedures.
- HS Diploma. Ideal for the candidate to have trade school.
- 2 years of experience operating sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
- Proficiency in using computerized controls and software for press brake / laser machines such as Sigmanest, TruTops Boost or CAM Software.
- Knowledge of bend tolerances.
- Experience operating press brake and fiber laser machines.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and processes.
- Measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Familiarity with laser cutting techniques and practices.
- Workers are required to be on time for every assigned shift.
- Experience in receiving and implementing on directives and feedback from supervisors and other company personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Ability to understand fractions and measurements.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand 8-hour workday.
- Must be able to physically bend, reach, and walk regularly.
- Must be able to wear safety for the entirety of the workday.
- Ability to participate in all physical labor and physical tasks assigned.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Prior experience with Trumpf Machinery.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment and promoting teamwork mentality.
- Strong sense of personal accountability.
- Prior experience programming.
