The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides quality, comprehensive out-patient behavioral health care services to the Center’s patients consulting with supervising physician and abiding by appropriate clinical protocols; reports directly to the Lead Psychiatrist regarding clinical issues and activities related to the delivery of Behavioral Health care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients; prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed Behavioral Health conditions consulting with supervising physician. Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients while assuring that a comprehensive service plan is developed. This comprehensive plan will include both brief and long-term therapy.
2. Responsible functioning at or above the 100 percentile in productivity and providing excellent clinical outcomes based on their patient’s panel. Ensure adequate clinician coverage within the clinics during operating hours.
3. Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the Center’s established Health Informatics Management policies and procedures to include providing appropriate documentation. Completes thorough documentation of each patient’s visit in the electronic health record and ensures encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center’s established Health Information Management policies and procedures
4. Reviews all lab reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes Behavioral Health management decisions appropriately.
5. Provide quality control of the behavioral health department including compliance with accreditation standards. Provides exceptional clinical care based on patient satisfaction scores, clinical outcome measures and chart audits. Ensure 100% participation in department chart audits.
6. Assure that patient satisfaction survey is at 94% or above. Present to others via telephone or directly in a personal and professional manner.
7. Document patient outcome measures for the BH program. This includes but is not limited to the Public Health Questionnaire-9, the Vanderbilt ADHD Scale and other outcome measures implemented in the course of practice and appropriate to demonstrate patient BH status.
8. Attends and actively participates in the Department meetings and Center activities in order pursue the mission and vision of the Center.
9. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their behavioral health care needs and representing the Center in any outside communication or activities.
10. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with community-based agencies in the best interest of the patient or the Center.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a Nurse Practitioner Program
Previous experience as Family Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry required
Must have current unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Board of Nursing
Annual continuing medical education as required by board specialty
Must be registered and have current DEA
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association

REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.
Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.
Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors
Physical: Sitting 20-30 percent of time and standing, walking 70-80 percent of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
