GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a part-time position (up to 20 hours) for a Parent Educator. The hours are flexible and can include time working from home. The Parent Educator will be responsible for planning and implementing evidence-based parenting curriculum that supports our Comprehensive Family Support Services Contract. This position will be responsible for supporting healthier families and stronger communities through supportive programming and collaborations in Strafford County.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related field.
- Requires at least (2) years of related experience in service delivery to families and children.
- Preferred experience with coordinating and marketing adult/family/community education programs/workshops.
- Preferred experience with community collaborations.
- Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Requires the ability to quickly learn new systems/databases.
- Experience organizing and/or facilitating trainings/workshops is preferred.
- Knowledge of the use of presentation software and technology as well as event management software or applications is preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources in Strafford County is preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Parent Educator plans and implements evidence-based curriculum to ensure that the FRC meets the Family Resource Center of Quality Operational Standards.
- The Parent Educator will ensure that groups, classes, and workshops are open to all families within the community.
- The Parent Educator will work with the Family Resource Center Coordinator to facilitate the successful operations, calendars, and logistics of the physical site of each FRC.
- The Parent Educator will be a part of The Family Services Team and will attend monthly team meetings.
- The Parent Educator will enter all information from groups, classes, and workshops into the FSDS data base.
- The Parent Educator will obtain Strengthening Families Framework training and Principles of Family Support training as soon as possible upon hire.
- The Parent Educator will be responsible for setting up the room for groups and classes
- The Parent Educator will be responsible for cleaning up after each parent education class and returning the room to its previous layout.
- The Parent Educator will facilitate parent evaluations after each workshop or class.
Parent Family/Community Education
- Responsible for the facilitation of parent/family offerings that include but are not limited to:

- PASTA
- Parent Project for Teens
- Nurturing Parenting β (One-hour topical workshops)
- Loving Solutions
- Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World
- Other topics as identified by families or community.

EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
Valid Driver's License and insured vehicle (100/300 minimum coverage) for use on the job or acceptable alternative, driving record check, criminal record check, randomized drug screening.
Head Start, Early Head Start, Childcare, and Home Visiting Programs are also subject to the following: Head Start and child care licensing requires finger printing to be completed prior to employment. A current (bi-annual) physical examination record, including a TB test must be kept on file. An initial physical examination record, including a TB screening must be obtained within 60 days of hire, updated every three years and kept on file with Human Resources . If a TB screening indicates high risk, results of a TB test must be kept on file including any treatment received. Proof of licensure and/or proof of certification.
