Position Summary: The Learning and Inclusion Coordinator plays a critical role in promoting a diverse, inclusive, and learning-focused workplace. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and coordinating training and development programs, with a specific focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The coordinator will collaborate with CAPSLO Programs, Committees and Department Directors/Managers to identify learning/training needs and create a culture of continuous learning and respect for all employees. By effectively designing, implementing, and managing learning/training programs, the Learning and Inclusion Coordinator contributes significantly to fulfilling CAPSLO's mission of empowering our employees, who, in turn, empower our community towards self-sufficiency and lasting positive change. Required Education and Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience developing and/or delivering training curriculum. Proven experience in HR training and development, with a specific focus on DEI. Experience in responding to diverse learning styles. Familiarity with learning management systems and HR software Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and relevant nonprofit experience. (Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field) License & Certifications: Valid California Driver’s License and reliable insured vehicle available for business use (mileage to be reimbursed) and acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required (not required for Substitutes). Essential Functions: Identify and prioritize training needs within the organization. Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments and analyze performance gaps with a focus on DEI, considering diverse perspectives and needs. Design, develop, and deliver effective training programs and materials that are inclusive and address DEI principles. Collaborate with subject matter experts to address specific DEI concerns within the organization. Implement and manage the Learning Management System (LMS) for efficient training administration and reporting. Design, deliver, and assess training programs that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and career development. Ensure that training materials and resources are up-to-date, relevant, and engaging. Track and report on DEI-related training initiatives. Evaluate training effectiveness through various assessment methods and feedback with a DEI lens, considering the impact on diverse employee groups. Apply a DEI lens to agency policies and procedures, ensuring they align with best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collaborate with the HR Director to identify, develop, and implement training programs that align with DEI-related goals as outlined in the agency's strategic plan. Responsibilities and Duties: Collaborate with CAPSLO Committees, Program Directors and Managers to identify training needs and learning objectives and ensure that training programs incorporate DEI principles and align with our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Develop engaging and interactive training content and materials, including e-learning modules, workshops, and presentations while integrating DEI concepts and real-life scenarios that promote understanding and empathy. Coordinate and conduct training sessions, ensuring that they are delivered in a clear, concise, and engaging manner while fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and respected. Assist in the creation and management of individual learning plans with a focus on DEI development for employees. Continuously monitor and evaluate training programs from a DEI perspective, making recommendations for enhancements that promote inclusivity. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in learning and development. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Strong knowledge and understanding of DEI principles, adult learning principles, instructional design, and training methodologies. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training software. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Skills: Excellent project management skills, including prioritization, time management, and meeting deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively while embracing diversity and inclusion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for training content creation. Abilities: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, considering diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment, valuing different experiences and opinions. Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement with a focus on fostering equity and inclusion. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality, especially in integrating DEI principles into all aspects of training. Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions May select and assign instructors to conduct specific training and development. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical: Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Simple grasping and hand manipulation required, as well as reaching above and below shoulder level. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position. Travel: May require occasional out of county travel. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: DEI certification or related training Certification as a trainer or developer of curriculum. Familiarity with design thinking and similar concepts. Spanish fluency (verbal and written) is highly desirable. Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.  Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form. Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required.  Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment.  Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Agency staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work.
