What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Provider Float position at Community Action Program of Evansville and Vanderburgh County?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Caregiver Float is responsible for assisting the Primary Caregiver with the day-to-day operations of a classroom. The Caregiver Float is responsible for adhering to Head Start Performance Standards, CAPE’s policies and procedures, CAPE’s Mission Statement, NAEYC and State Licensing Standards. Must be professional and be able to work cooperatively and respectfully with children, families, staff, and community members. The Caregiver Float may work in a variety of locations and assistant teaching roles.
- Assist teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for children at all times, ensuring constant supervision during indoor and outdoor activities, meal times, and nap times.
- Help organize and maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Provide one-on-one attention and support to children as needed, including assisting with personal care routines such as feeding, diapering, and toileting.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior by promoting positive reinforcement techniques and modeling appropriate behavior.
- Communicate effectively with lead teachers, parents, and other staff members to provide updates on children's progress, daily activities, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Be prepared to work across different classrooms and age groups as needed, adapting to changing schedules and assignments based on the center's requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
- Adhere to all safety and health regulations, including maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, conducting regular safety checks, and following proper procedures in case of emergencies.
