Overview:
We are a vibrant, small community church located in the heart of Richardson, Texas, seeking a dedicated Church Pianist to join our music ministry. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our Choir Director to prepare and perform music for our Sunday services and special services throughout the liturgical calendar, particularly during the Lent and Advent seasons. This role is perfect for someone who is flexible, can improvise, and desires to share their musical gifts with a small, yet passionate congregation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside our Choir Director, Mr. Aaron Cannon-Lucero, to rehearse with the church choir, preparing for Sunday services and special occasions.
- Perform hymns and music selected by the Music Director and Pastor, as well as provide a variety of music for the prelude, offering invitation, and postlude for each service.
- Participate in regular rehearsals, currently scheduled for Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- Play at our single Sunday service and rehearsal from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with additional services during specific times of the year (e.g., Lent, Advent).
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to improvise to enhance the worship experience.
- Engage with the congregation through music, contributing to the spiritual life of our church community.
Requirements:
- Proficient in playing the piano with the ability to sight-read and improvise.
- Experience in church music and accompanying choirs is highly desirable.
- A deep understanding of religious music and the ability to play a wide range of hymns and spiritual songs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers.
- A commitment to the mission and values of our church.
- Availability for all scheduled services and rehearsals, as well as flexibility for additional services as required throughout the year.
Position Details:
- Start Date- June 1st, 2024
- 11-Month Paid Contract (Off in July for the Summer)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $800.00 per month
