The Pharmacy Technician Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the pharmacy field. Relies on limited experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Compound medical prescriptions according to the instruction of the
Pharmacist
2. Dispense medicine prescribed to patients according to the instruction of the Pharmacist.
3. Input insurance information into the computer
4. Collect co-pays from patients
5. Comply with all federal, state and agency regulatory standards
6. Assist with gathering data and compiling reports as directed
7. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
3. Current state Pharmacy Technician certification
Experience:
1. 1 - 3 years experience of clinical experience in a related field
2. Experience with computerized pharmacy software
3. Experience with Pharmacy billing
Preferred:
1. Experience in community health care setting
2. Bilingual capacity
3. Knowledge of managed care systems
