What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Accountant position at Community Healthcare Center?
Community Healthcare Center is searching for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant. The Junior Accountant is responsible for the production of weekly check runs to pay expenses incurred by the Center, along with assisting the Controller in day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Also responsible for opening and recording all income mail and mail payments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes accounts payable invoices and expense reimbursements for payment
- Ensures accounts payable invoices and expenses are accurate, properly coded and authorized for payment
- Maintain record of payments and support needed for audit purposes
- Provide support for month and year end closing
- Issues manual checks as required for immediate payment
- Responsible for maintaining current and accurate accounting for contracted staff allowances (CME, CDE, etc.)
- Provide vendor support for payments
- Assists with report preparation as required by the various grants and as required by administration to include monthly and annual reporting.
- Identifies process areas for improvement or staff training opportunities.
- Processing and filing 1099s
- Provides month end and year end accounting support, as required
- Participates in training for new hires when applicable.
- Assist Finance Team with other duties as needed
- Maintains HIPAA / HITECH compliance and ensure confidentiality of any Private Health Information (PHI) or Electronic Private Health Information (ePHI).
- Maintains valid driver license and insurance requirements per state recommendations. Motor vehicle record check must meet company policy requirements.
Required education and certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent related work experience required.
