Lead Drug Resource Specialist
The Drug Resource Specialist provides a variety of drug and alcohol prevention, education and counseling services for students and families on school campus and as referred by the school.
Essential duties: Provides a safe and positive environment for youth. Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with school personnel. Provides individual, group and family counseling for youth and families. Provides drug and alcohol trainings/presentations.Facilitates curricula such as The Seven Challenges, The Brief Challenges, Vape Offense Workshop and Youth Alternatives to Violence (YATV). Facilitates ADAPT Club. Coordinates and participates in prevention activities at the school and/or in the community. Assists and supports Drug Resource Specialists and communicates effectively and openly with the DRS’s.Assists and supports the Program Officer on a variety of projects and communicates effectively and openly with the Program Officer. Provides case management and advocacy. Generates, collects, and prepares data/reports for agency and school use. Promotes alcohol and drug free choices, positive social-emotional connections at school and cultural awareness and acceptance.
Minimum qualifications: (Education, License/Certification, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Language) Drug Resource Specialist position requires knowledge of substance abuse prevention, experience working with youth, families and schools, counseling and case management skills, computer competence (Outlook, Word), organizational and planning skills and excellent written and verbal skills. The incumbent must be able to work independently and as member of team. The incumbent must also be able to work closely with school staff while staying connected to CHS and the supervisor to successfully implement program objectives and develop strong, healthy, ongoing relationships with students and the school. Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work and two years related work experience. The equivalent combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the above. Preference will be given to bilingual/bi-literate/bi-cultural candidates.
Salary $4,179 - $5,079 per month D.O.E. Additional 5% if Bilingual (E/S). Generous benefits package including dental and vision coverage. AA/EOE.
