Job Posting for COMMERCIAL LOAN UNDERWRITER at Community Loan Servicing
The commercial loan underwriter will have the responsibility for ensuring the credit worthiness of on both performing and non-performing commercial loans owned by internal and external investors. This position will be an integral part of the Commercial Credit / Underwriting team reporting to the First Vice President of Commercial Credit, but will have broader interactions with the SVP of Commercial Servicing & Asset Management, as well as, executive leadership on the Commercial Loan Origination teams. An ideal candidate should be a self-starter that can operate with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment, deadline oriented environment. (REMOTE is acceptable)
Perform financial statement underwriting, analysis and financial covenant compliance for a portfolio of performing and non-performing commercial loans owned by internal and external clients in accordance to Loan Agreements.
Monitor the credit quality of commercial loan portfolio on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Recommend risk ratings in accordance with NAIC and/or CREFC guidelines.
Identify the key credit and non-credit risks associated with a portfolio of loans or specific to a transaction.
Review and recommend any additions or changes to the current policies and procedures for underwriting performing and non-performing commercial loans and guarantors.
Develop and recommend to Senior Management any adjustments to Commercial Credit key performance indicators, processes and policies.
Review and make approval recommendations on financial analysis in connection with loan modifications, maturity extensions, workouts or annual reviews prior to formal submission to Senior Management, Investors, or Clients.
Underwrite high risk/profile assets as requested by Senior Management.
Perform due diligence on potential commercial loan acquisition portfolios for indicative or final bid purposes as necessary.

Working knowledge of financial statement analysis and review of tax returns.
Strong knowledge of credit policies, procedures, principles and philosophy
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
3 years’ experience in one or a combination of the following related to commercial loans and/or commercial real estate: underwriting, financial analysis or deal structuring in financial services, private banking, corporate/investment banking or capital markets
Formal credit or commercial loan training and some previous credit decisioning preferred
Exposure to a wide variety of commercial credits and the professional/executive market segment is preferred
Knowledge of financial accounting theory and logic, loan structuring, commercial products and services
Solid credit fundamentals in a commercial environment
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration
