Responsibilities
The Grants Officer 1 is responsible for researching, writing, submitting and tracking grants to support Community Health System's programs and services. They will seek government, corporate and foundation grants to raise critical funds to benefit patient care and support fundraising initiatives throughout our health system. Provides support with writing projects for the Office of Philanthropy. Accountabilities 1. Achieves a personal revenue target of $250,000 or more, as determined annually.2. Completes at least twelve (12) grant proposals annually.3. Researches grant opportunities from government agencies (local, state and federal), corporations and foundations. Matches opportunities with programmatic needs of clinical partners throughout Community Health System, based on research and knowledge of our healthcare system. Secures funding for technology, education, research, equipment, therapies and treatments, facility enhancements, expansion and new building projects, services and programs for patients, etc.4. Works with program manager to monitor progress of grant funded programs, obtain reporting information and submit data and reports, where needed.5. Prepares grant proposals, including copywriting and data sourcing, and submits them on or ahead of deadline.6. Reports back about impact and steward grantors as valued donor-investors by keeping them engaged and educated about Community’s mission.7. Analyzes results, learns from each grant acceptance and rejection, and continually makes recommendations for improvement.8. Performs line-editing and proofreading by checking formatting for consistency, grammatical accuracy, clarity of sentences and spelling errors for writing projects.9. Supports colleagues throughout the system who need support or information about applying for grants. Understands which grants may currently be secured outside the Office of Philanthropy and works with program managers to secure those gifts through the department moving forward.10. Remains up to date on current issues and trends related to grant proposals and granting agencies.11. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required• Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred Experience• 1 year of experience in grant or proposal writing, professional or volunteer fundraising, communications, marketing, public affairs or related field required• Experience in a nonprofit, grant making or healthcare environment preferred
