Responsibilities
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll function, time and attendance, and the daily workflow of the department. Duties include management of payroll processes, timely and accurate completion of employee pay, coordinating federal and state tax reporting, audits, managing filing and legal requirements, and ad-hoc reporting. Demonstrates strong people management skills, the ability work on a team, and creates and maintains a positive and collaborative work atmosphere. Provides a customer service focused approach to all internal employee payroll issues and deliberately communicates sensitive information. Exhibits a positive can do attitude and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with the ability to confidently interact and communicate with all staff levels within the organization. Demonstrates detail oriented and exceptional organization skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position supervises and directs the payroll team and is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Five (5) years of experience calculating and processing in-house payroll, including payroll tax reporting
- Three (3) years of progressive supervisory or management experience in payroll
- Three (3) years of experience working with payroll software
- Three (3) years of payroll function experience, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Proven ability to interpret payroll procedures and policies, CA Employer’s Guide, and the IRS Employer’s Tax Guide
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related certification
- One (1) year of prior work experience with Kronos, Meditech and/or ExpressNet software
- One (1) year of Healthcare experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook
