Community Resources For Justice is a unique, 140 year old nonprofit organization headquartered in Boston, that provides direct care as well as research/consulting services within the areas of the Mental Health and the Criminal Justice/Public Policy field. Our three divisions, Social Justice Services, Community Strategies, and the Crime and Justice Institute are recognized for their effectiveness and contributions to this important work.
Job Purpose: The Program Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Program Monitors in the residential reentry program. The Program Supervisor is primarily responsible for ensuring that the Program Monitors complete their responsibilities each shift. The Program Supervisor ensures adherence to the applicable Statement of Work as well as CRJ Policy and Procedures.
Accomplishments of this position include ensuring the secure and safe operation of the facility, specifically resident security, supervision and accountability, resident tracking, and pro-social role modeling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides supervision to Program Monitors; provides positive and constructive feedback and situational corrective action.
2. Creates and communicates staff schedules for Program Monitors in accordance with contractual staffing requirements; and in a fair, equitable, and timely manner.
3. Assists the Program Director with recruitment of Program Monitors.
4. Coordinates Program Monitor initial orientation and ongoing training under the direction of the Assistant Director.
5. Conducts and documents ongoing supervision of Program Monitors and contributes to performance evaluations.
6. Ensures all shift operations are accurately documented in the accountability/ case management system (SecurManage) (shift activity, resident spot-checks, medication, urinalyses, alco-sensor, searches, incidents, supervision of meals, etc.).
7. Ensures shift emergencies and critical incidents are responded to in a timely and accurate manner. Responsible for completing all related notifications and paperwork, including Incident Reports prior to leaving shift.
8. Schedules and ensures completion of fire drills, room searches, vehicle searches, drug tests, chemical audits, and monthly property room audits.
9. Ensures facility cleanliness; oversees assignment of resident chores; maintains list of building maintenance issues and submits tickets to Facilities Department; ensures security camera system is operational and being used in accordance with Program requirements.
10. Timely preparation and submission of data and reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) as directed.
11. Serves as a pro-social role model to residents to support their behavior change, and to effectively convey information and respond to resident concerns and questions.
12. Attends all required meetings and trainings; participates in internal/external committees and workgroups.
13. Fills-in for and backs-up Program Monitor position as needed
14. Timely and accurate review and approval of biweekly payroll for assigned staff.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Associates degree in related field, or 2-4 years related correctional, law enforcement, or residential experience; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
· Requires ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
· Experience in Residential or community corrections program preferred.
· Experience working with individuals involved in the justice system preferred.
· Previous supervisory experience preferred.
· Being bilingual is a preferred skill.

Knowledge of community, interpersonal and judgment skills. Ability to work as a team player, as well as independently. Ability to listen, provide encouragement, and deal with frustration are important aspects of this position. Ability to learn and apply the program’s Statement of Work as it relates to all policies and procedures. Ability to learn and apply Core Correctional Practices including relationship skills, and effective use of reinforcement, disapproval, and authority.
Technical Skills:
Ability to operate basic office equipment (copier, computer, printer, scanner, fax). Computer software skills: advanced Outlook, intermediate Word, intermediate Excel, telephone operations, intermediate web-based packages (electronic case management/accountability data system, video conferencing software).
Physical Demands:
Sitting for extended periods, attendance, speaking/listening on telephones, walking, climbing stairs, periodic light lifting, exposure to computer screens, keyboard skills, exposure to florescent lights, and periodic light lifting.
Working Conditions:
Will require working various hours for shift coverage which may include nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some travel for Resident spot checks and to CRJ offices for various meetings and trainings.
