Position Summary
Provide quality care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties. Assist in the efficiency and productivity of patient flow through timely, accurate and professional preparation of patients and patient information, including taking and processing x-rays.
Support dentist and dental hygienist in community outreach, education, and portable delivery of dental treatment.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Collect and record patient health histories (dental and medical) for dentist's reference prior to examination.
  • Take and process x-rays.
  • Assist dentist chair-side by organizing and preparing instruments for dentist's use and assisting as needed during procedures.
  • Deliver care as delegated by the supervising dentist such as polishing of teeth, placement of topical anesthetic, and placement of pit and fissure sealants.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup, and materials.
  • Perform general office/clerical duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience
Required Experience: Less than 1 year
Experience: Certification of completion from a dental assisting program/school or 6 months of dental assisting experience
Computer Skills:
Certifications & Licenses:. Dental Assistant certification preferred
Other Requirements: Annually Required Respiratory Protection Fit Test; Public Health background and knowledge of Medicaid billing/insurance, preferred.
