Description:
As a member of the LANL Wireless Security (WiSec) team, you will work on monitoring, detecting, and isolating of wireless security events, wireless security event triage, escalation of incidents to the proper response personnel, and providing data during wireless security investigations. The WiSec team focuses on protecting LANL wireless networks and training, retaining, and growing cyber talent for LANL. As a WiSec team member you would be on the cutting edge of wireless security, while enjoying the unique opportunities provided by LANL’s location. You would work in a diverse and challenging network environment unavailable anywhere else.
• Work to monitor, detect, and isolate wireless security events;
• Investigate wireless alerts and escalate events to the proper response personnel;
• Record operational metrics and follow escalation guidance and reporting requirements;
• Participate in lifecycle management and other wireless project efforts;
Job Requirements:
• Basic understanding of current network and wireless technology including networking protocols, network infrastructure elements, wireless network standards, and network applications, services, and related protocols.
• Understanding of the wireless security environment, including basic wireless attacks, wireless security violations, and compliance.
• Familiarity with the incident response process and how to apply it.
• Understanding of log file analysis to detect security events and troubleshoot device issues.
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast paced collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively record and communicate findings and escalate critical incidents.
Desired Skills:
Experience with:
• Enterprise wireless access point configurations and deployments
• Wireless Intrusion Detection Systems (WIDS)
Education:
• Cybersecurity Technical Staff 1 typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
