Job Summary:
Are you ready to make a difference and share your passion in the Art of Pastry? Working as a Pastry Chef at Furman University, you are responsible for menu creation, production and ordering for the pastry department. You will prepare pastries for campus dining as well as catered events. You will adhere to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe and sanitary pastries, preparation and presentation. Additional duties may include inventory, ordering, sanitation, and hourly associate management to include hiring, counseling, coaching and development. Come make a difference as our Pastry Chef!
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares, produces and orders for the pastry department
- Leads a team of pastry cooks
- Handles, prepares and stores perishable products
- Adheres to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe and sanitary pastry production
Qualifications:
- A.S. or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three to five years of progressive pastry management experience
- Must have scratch baking and high-volume pastry experience
- Extensive catering experience a plus
- Ideal experience/background in Hotel, Country Club or Catering
- Comprehensive knowledge in pastry and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation
- Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
- ServSafe certified - highly desirable
