Looking for a dependable Full-time Referral Coordinator to work in a busy Primary Care office. Primary duties include processing of health insurance referrals. A good working knowledge of insurance requirements is necessary to accurately and efficiently schedule appointments for procedures and with specialists. The goal of all services provided is to ensure that insurance approvals and referrals are obtained and that appointments and procedures are scheduled in a timely manner for the best possible patient outcome.
Duties include:
-Processing all health insurance referrals and obtaining prior authorizations for tests allowing patients to see specialists/or be scheduled for tests for further care.
-Verifying that the specialist and referral is in network and processing necessary information to complete the referral with required.
-Verifying and obtaining prior authorizations as needed.
-Documenting all referral information in the appropriate system for billing purposes.
-(E)- Faxing approved information to the specialist's offices and facilities.
-Obtaining authorization for out of network referrals and processing the referrals appropriately.
-Verify that patient information and/demographics and insurance are updated and make changes as necessary.
-Preparing correspondence to patients and specialists
-Schedule appointments, accurately and efficiently.
-Explain policies to patients as needed
-Scan documents into EMR
-Assist with incoming faxes (fax inbox)
-Assist with Training and educating staff
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Work history of proficiency with medical practices front end and administrative processes.
-3 years working in healthcare
-Sound knowledge of health insurance plans
-Experience with EMR (ECW Preferred)
-Previous referral experienced is required
-Excellent oral and written Communication skills
-Have an Understanding of HIPAA,OSHA and Compliance rules and regulation

-Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
-Must be a self-starter and dependable.

Working Conditions:
-Possible intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, and supporting patients.
-Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift (up to 25 lbs.), and ability to adjust vision for close visualization-oriented tasks.
-Work is performed in an indoor environment and with both natural and artificial lighting.
-Potential exposure to airborne dust, humidity, and temperature fluctuations.
-Exposure to patients in various states of hygiene and emotional condition.
-Potential risk of exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
