Job Description
Compass Pointe has partnered with a global financial company in the Owings Mills, MD area that is looking to hire a Network Engineer. Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure. The main projects the engineer will work on are Cisco software upgrades and brown-field equipment replacements. No on-call hours but must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed, flexibility with schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design and implement network infrastructure to ensure connectivity and stability of the company's network.
• Configure and maintain Cisco ISO devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Work with Nexus switches and related technologies such as Virtual Port Channels (VPC) and Fabric Path
• Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
• Work with switching technologies including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel’s, and Layer 2 and 3 switching.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, IP address assignments, and device configurations.
• Analyze security vulnerabilities and recommend solutions to protect the network against potential threats.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 3 years of experience in network engineering
• Experience with network cabling infrastructure design, installations, and upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of network security vulnerabilities and solutions
• Experience with Cisco ISO devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Experience with Nexus switches and related technologies such as VPC and Fabric Path.
• Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Experience with switching technologies including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel’s, and Layer 2 and 3 switching.
• Network engineers typically have a Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP Certification
