Job Description
The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be a participatory manager, who along with the CFO, will lead the finance team including mentoring and developing staff. Ultimately, the Controller will understand and be involved in all aspects of finance and accounting. In addition, the Controller will work directly with other groups across the organization to help improve overall operations and profitability.
As a Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting and financial functions both personally and through your direct reports including
- Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury and general ledger accounting
- Complete a timely, accurate and efficient accounting close on a monthly basis
- Review project performance and costs to provide actionable insight to the project management group
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations including required returns
- Develop operational KPIs and reports to support the leadership team and departmental managers
- Create processes and procedures to improve overall financial operations
- Maintain appropriate fixed asset ledgers and depreciation calculations
- Manage completion of the annual audit
- Support the preparations and review of budget, forecasts and financial plans
- Other varied duties to support CFO, executive team and overall organization
TRAVEL: This role typically includes minimal travel in the continental United States.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Controller oversees employees involved in the accounting process including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred
- 10 or more years of related experience
- Mastery of MS Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
- Experience with ERP Software, JobBoss preferred
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills
- Exceptional leadership skills and a big-picture approach to management
