POSITION SUMMARY:
The right candidate for this exceptional opportunity will be able to exhibit passion for wine, culinary vision, flair for service, and lifestyle. The selected candidate will support Complexity Wine’s owners in their vision of creating an innovative and exceptional experience for every customer with the best wine and food has to offer.
As the primary point of contact for guest interactions in the dining room, the Server is responsible for selling and serving food and beverages using their knowledge, hospitality and service skills. The ideal candidate possesses a guest first attitude, strong commitment to service, and excellent communication. We ask for a willingness to receive and offer direction, be solutions oriented, conscientious and professional with a strong commitment to learning and continuously increasing their knowledge of wine. Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly and ensure smooth service operations and quality service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ambassador for the brand and mission of Complexity Wine with outstanding hospitality knowledge of wine inventory and food offerings
- Assist in ordering, inventory and prep work as needed
- Keep all food orders flowing continuously from the kitchen
- Monitor guests, partners and internal feedback and propose corrective action to management ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction
- Support the Owners in creative culinary direction of restaurant
- To communicate all guest requests to an appropriate cook in a timely and professional manner
- Educate guests on wines and recommend food pairings
- Ensure strict adherence to health department and food handling guidelines
- To immediately report all suspicious occurrence and hazardous conditions
- To follow all company/kitchen safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED LICENSE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and two plus years relevant experience, OR, equivalent combination of education and experience
- California Food Handlers card (within 30 days of hire)
- Training for Intervention Procedures Certification (Tips) (within 30 days of hire)
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Knowledge of health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and production
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong guest service orientation
- Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with management, servers, team members and guests.)
- Ability to work in a team environment exercising adequate leadership
- Ability to accept constructive criticism and work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Guest service orientation and commitment to quality service
- Have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized
- Effectively motivate associates and to maintain cohesive teams
- Be able to work with and understand financial information, data and basic arithmetic functions
- Be able to operate Point-of-sale terminal and workstations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Continuous walking, bending, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Generally, indoors
- Work is performed in the dining area
- Work flexible hours that may include early afternoons, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
