Position Title : Material Handling Supervsior
Description:
- Is responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives.
- Supervises semi to highly skilled production and/or maintenance employees on an assigned shift to ensure the manufacture of products within established delivery, quality, safety and cost standards.
- The supervisor is the first-line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff.
Duties:
- Establishes employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance.
- Ensures that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
- Monitors Control Plans, troubleshoots workmanship problems and generally supervises production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements.
- Administers employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit.
- Monitors individual and line performance and takes corrective action including discipline, as needed and responds to complaints to insure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules.
- Determines manufacturing and/or distribution priorities based on the production schedule and makes daily assignments including filling vacancies and assigning overtime in order to adhere to the Customer Delivery date.
- Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets.
- Monitors and makes corrections to stay within the department operating budget targets.
- Directs departmental continuous improvement plans and activities.
- Implements and monitors safety programs and housekeeping.

Specific Position Requirements :
- This position will work 3rd shift (10:30 pm to 7:00 am).
- Overtime likely, either extended weekday hours or weekend work.
Summary:
- The Material Handling Supervisor role will be responsible for the management of wage trucking personnel.
- The role will fulfill all wage supervisor responsibilities.
- The role focuses on safety, ensuring proper execution of internal plant material flow processes, and employee engagement improvements.
- This position will be a third shift position with opportunities to occasionally cover first shift.
- In addition to being responsible for the third shift material handling employees, the role will be responsible for executing a nightly third shift task list, managing incoming trailer responsibilities, and completing other material tasks as decided by the first shift counterpart.
Here are the requirements for this role:
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing/warehousing environments.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel within company.
- Ability and comfort to work with or learn Microsoft and SAP/Oracle type computer software.
- Understanding of basic material handling and logistics concepts.
- The role is designed to provide a learning experience to the employee.
- In this role, the employee will learn many of the skills required to perform the job, including details about the labor contract, inventory systems used, and warehouse dock management.
- The role, while responsible for wage personnel, will be an opportunity for an employee to learn all facets of our material flow and logistics business.
Manager is looking for candidates with strong leadership/people skills.
- Candidates with standard operation procedures, lean manufacturing, materials or warehouse backgrounds are a plus.
- Interviews will be conducted either onsite or via MS Teams.
- Position will start onsite on the first day.

- Safety shoes with internal metatarsal protection required for first day.
- There is a possibility the person will drive their personal vehicle to other Waterloo locations for meetings.
- May also drive a Deere owned Gator on the shop floor after completing safety training.
