Job Title: Project - Project Manager - DP&C
Position description:
This position is in the Delivery Projects and Construction Organization which will act as a key contributor to the successful execution of Gas projects including Gas Transmission Relocations, M&R Construction, Pipeline Integrity Inspections, and 3rd Party Relocation Projects.
Provide engineering, oversight and coordination for the relocation of Gas Distribution facilities, specifically for Gas Transmission Relocations, and M&R Construction projects. These projects shall be handled from inception to successful completion in terms of safety, reliability, functional performance requirements, and timely completion and within scope and budget. Successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects throughout the State depending on workload and will work primarily from South Plainfield.
Responsibilities include ensuring that all project objectives are successfully achieved (i.e., safely, within scope, on schedule and within budget), implementation of the DP&C Project Management Program, lead project teams commensurate with project needs, interact with the local Gas Asset Integration, M&R personnel and Gas District/Division management personnel throughout the State.
Maintain and monitor project agreements, plans and schedules, conduct project reviews, resolve issues and get required associates and groups involved to ensure that the project plans are professionally and comprehensively planned and executed. Coordinate the preparation of bid specifications, procurement of material and services, construction, contractor and vendor performance, labor relations, safety, quality control, permitting and licensing, gas outage planning, scope change control, environmental compliance, public relations, progress reporting, budgets, change orders, execution and closeout reporting.
Represent the Company with State and Federal Agencies, the General Public and Public Officials and Planning/Zoning Boards and other Regulatory Bodies, including testimony, as required, to gain necessary project approvals. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and Standards of Integrity and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls. Focus on measurement of results and familiarity of the use of a balanced scorecard methodology. Promote close and effective integration of efforts between unique groups on a project.
Essential Job Competencies:
- Proven engineering and construction related experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of Utility operations, construction or project management, HDD design, M&R operations, estimating, and project controls.
- Working knowledge of applicable safety rules, environmental regulations and statutes, practices and procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, GDS (Gas Distribution Standards), proven management experience, excellent communicator, good writing skills, schedule-oriented, analytical with respect to processes.
- General knowledge of basic computer applications, i.e., MS Word and Excel
Required:
- BS in Engineering or equivalent experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years of engineering and construction related experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
Desired Job Competencies:
- Advanced computer application knowledge, i.e. MS Access, Project or some other CPM/scheduling software.
- Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Unit agreements, IBEW, OPEIU and 855.

- RGDP (Registered Gas Distribution Professional)
- PMI Certified Project Management Professional
Successful candidate:
- May be expected to obtain a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Is expected to participate in Distribution's Supervisory Academy
- Will be included in DERC on call coverage, accepting call out obligations
- Will be subject to DOT random drug testing, Safety Sensitive position
- Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
