Position Summary
Analyzes construction documents, supplier and subcontractor proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and labor estimates and proposals for some or all of the following products: fabricated reinforcing steel, structural precast products, concrete pipe, concrete related warehouse materials, and structural steel. Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviews documents to determine material and labor requirements for the preparation of estimates.
Prepares estimates and proposals for bid projects.
Provides pricing and other information for walk-in or phone customers when needed.
Works with other departments to determine costs, finalize proposal pricing, interpret documents, and manage projects.
Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associates degree in construction related field; and
- three years experience working within construction estimating and design; or
- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses
- None
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel. Experience with Bluebeam is a plus.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure without constant supervision.
- Ability to communicate and speak effectively to customers, architects, contractors, and coworkers. Must
