Operations Manager Needed in Charleston, SC

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively lead the management and/or other production supervisory personnel within the defined market area. Ensures all personnel are properly available, trained, and prepared to execute on the production strategy.
- Must be able to instruct, lead others on the safe daily operation of plant and/or terminal operations to include but not limited to; the receipt and delivery of products to the customer, budgetary and forecasting for production needs, the production of ready-mix concrete, the maintenance of a constant and consistent assignment of mixer trucks in order to ensure delivery in a timely and efficient manner.
- The Operations Manager is responsible for the interpretation, analysis, and execution of all plant production-level data and operating plans. Works closely with safety, sales, quality, and other corporate level groups to ensure operational success.
- Must oversee, instruct, and lead others on plant maintenance budgets and repair programs across the assigned market area, and ensure preventative schedules are appropriately followed.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with the customers, direct reports, internal support departments, higher levels of company management and outside regulatory agencies.
- Must be knowledgeable in all phases of Mixer Truck Operations to include checking the slump as necessary of concrete to insure loads meet or exceed all state standards. This function requires that all production managers be able to climb the rear truck ladder, bend over and view the concrete in the Mixer Drum to confirm the “Slump”.
- Must be able to maintain operations within budgetary restraints/constraints and recommend changes to the budget as needed to the Vice President of Operations.
JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Budgeting, forecasting production schedules in concert with sales and corporate goals for the market area.
- Communicate, evaluate, coach, and motivate management and other supervisory personnel in order to successfully execute on the market area’s production strategy.
- Must be able to communicate effectively via direct conversation, written, and technological mediums
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all internal departments.
- Communicates to the highest levels of company management problems encountered with customers, area personnel, equipment, etc.
- Performs all checks, maintenance and repairs to their assigned plants and utilizes automated forms, checklists, and other technology-driven services to assist in the completion of these duties.
- Batches concrete according to company required standards.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all plant locations.
- Maintains strong working relationships with safety, dispatch, QA, sales and customers.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to safely operate a company pickup truck as extensive vehicle travel throughout their geographic area of responsibility is required to visit multiple plant sites and customer jobsites.
- Additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School or GED desired
Experience: 5 years of production plant level management desired
Abilities: Demonstrated strong communication, aptitude and decision-making
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 45lbs., chest high (infrequently)
Ability to reach overhead (infrequently)
Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights (daily, weekly)
Certifications: ACI Level I and DOT Level II & III certifications where required
