Overview

Design, measure, fit, and adapt orthopedic braces, appliances or prostheses, such as limbs or facial parts for patients with disabling conditions.

Responsibilities

Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems for patients.--------------------------------------------------Design orthopedic and prosthetic devices, based on physicians prescriptions and examination and measurement of patients. Design medical devices or appliances.--------------------------------------------------Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products.--------------------------------------------------Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.--------------------------------------------------Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.--------------------------------------------------Fit, test, evaluate devices on patients, and make adjustments for proper fit, function and comfort. Adjust prostheses or other assistive devices.--------------------------------------------------Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.--------------------------------------------------Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.--------------------------------------------------Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.--------------------------------------------------Update skills and knowledge by attending conferences and seminars. Maintain medical and professional knowledge--------------------------------------------------

Qualifications

EDUCATION:Required: A high school diploma, GED or college degree; Completion of a National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) approved pedorthic pre-certification education course.Preferred: A high school diploma, or College degree; Completion of NCOPE approved pedorthic certification course. EXPERIENCE:Required: Completion of 1,000 hours of pedorthic patient care experience obtained either before or after completion of pedorthic education program. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDValid Driver's License | Valid Driver's LicensePREFERRED
