Position Summary:
Tooling Technician is responsible to make sure that required tooling is available when needed without defects and within tolerance guidelines.
We will provide on-the-job training.
Essential Job Functions:
- Set up, maintain and clean the CNC and manual profile and face grinders to sharpen or profile tooling to institute and provide a sharp and precise tool
- Re-tips tooling by following all procedures as set in the guidelines and performs these duties safely and efficiently on a precise level without interruptions
- Check all Profiles to assure that the template, gauge and tool matches the 10 x 1
- Dresses the grinding wheel to match the stylus to assure an accurate profile that meets the tolerance set by the company guidelines
- Balances tools to a measure of weights displacements for the cutter to run smooth, eliminating defects on the work piece, and longevity of spinal bearings
- Stamping and recording all aspects of tooling
- Sharpen and replace knives on planers
- Manufacture and replace sanding wheels efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge of machines and how to replace saw blades and certain cutters when dull
- Provide all sites with accurate and precise tooling
- Work closely with engineering, draftsmen, and QAL’s to develop tooling and troubleshoot complications that may arise
- Able to work with vendors when needed
- Work closely with maintenance for machine set ups and troubleshooting
- Able to measure accurately
- Set up, inspect, and measure tooling for power mat molders.
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Advanced computer skills to include CNC Programming
- Must be organized, have attention to detail and possess the ability to carry out a variety of functions within a specific timeframe
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
- Must be able to identify material species and defects.
- Must be able to use a variety of hand and bench power tools and be able to operate production machinery with various controls and adjustments.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand for 8-12 hours per day
- Must be able to walk for approximately 5-6 hours throughout an average workday
- Must be able to work in an environment where there is exposure to dirt, dust, noise, heat, and cold. Occasionally exposed to hazardous materials.
