SCOPE OF POSITION
The Embedded Systems Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining real-time control system software for battery electric and hybridized heavy duty vehicle systems. The developer will work with mechanical and electrical designers to ensure the vehicle control system meets all requirements and will debug and commission developed programs. The developer must be a self-starter with strong team-working and communication skills, well-organized and committed to a high standard of work.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Technology Development
- Develop real-time control system software for industrial vehicle systems, including the programming of vehicle controllers, HVAC systems as well as safety circuitry.
- Develop human machine interfaces (HMI) using commercially available industrial products.
- Work with mechanical and electrical designers to ensure the control system will meet performance, reliability, and functionality requirements.
- Debug and commission programs on our shop floor during systems integration stage.
- Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify program completeness.
- Provide accurate documentation for each project.
- Provide technical support to machines that are released to the field.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical or controls
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years working with automotive controllers and HMI’s from DanFoss or EPEC
Technical Skill Requirements
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant field
- Proficiency in developing and debugging applications in CodeSys
- Proficiency in ECAD such as Altium Designer or AutoCAD

- Values organization and holds themselves to a high-quality standard of work
- Ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, particularly during time-critical builds
- Ability to work well in on a multi-disciplined team of engineers, fabricators, and technicians
Welcome Assets
- Engineering experience in vehicle electrification applications
- Experience with hands-on electrical routing and assembly in an industrial or automotive environment
- Experience in production and/or manufacturing engineering
Work Location: 606-S Roxbury Industrial Center, Charles City, VA, 23030
This role will mostly be remote, with travel to our Charles City location every month or other month, depending on business needs.

Salary : $101,000 - $128,000
