The Controller will be responsible for supporting the financial planning and reporting of the company’s revenue, expenses, cash flow, inventory, and accounts receivable. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that all financials are accurately recorded and that all internal controls are in place to ensure a safe and ethical business environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and experience in a service-based industry. This is a direct hire with benefits. Compensation of $100,000 - $120,000.
Job Description
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10-12 years of accounting or business finance experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Proven work experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, cost accounting
- Sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to work with large volumes of data.
- Experience with an Accounting or ERP system, preferably Profit Key
- HFM, OneStream, or cube-based software experience desired
- MBA a plus
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Controls / Financial Statement Closing Process (FSCP)
- Oversee all accounting functions including financial accounting close process, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Oversight of accounting training programs, using process documentation and action item lists.
- Maintain the accounting ledgers including the chart of accounts and vendor master.
- Supports reporting and monitors KPI’s and benchmarks used to measure company performance.
- Enhancing existing key accounting and business process documentation, supporting strong internal controls over accounting and financial reporting.
- Leadership role in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, with support from other departments providing data that will be utilized in the preparation of the budget.
- Monthly monitors actuals to budget for variances and conducts meeting with plant management teams driving corrective actions to misses.
- Prepare and complete month-end journal entries, supporting schedules and related account reconciliations in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
Compliance
- Works with external auditors, providing required information for the annual audit.
- Provides required documents and information for periodic lender field exams and appraisals.
- Complete and track various quarterly/annual tax filings and business registrations.
- Compiling data for various U.S. federal information and statistical filings.
General & Cost Accounting
- Daily management / processing of accounts payable and weekly processing of vendor payments.
- Review (w Corp Controller) and correct the average cost of raw materials in the system, developing monitoring controls and training associates with the proper receipt of materials and units of measure.
- Conduct physical inventories and cycle counts along with operations, reporting results and monitoring coverage and statistical accuracy, along with root cause evaluation and corrective actions.
- Perform labor cost and overtime analysis.
- Analysis of cost centers to be used in estimates on new pricing on a minimum of a yearly basis.
- Analyze manufacturing costs for comparison of standards to actual costs and drive actions with the operations / engineering and quality teams to ensure we improve any negative or material variances.
- Submit payroll hours to payroll provider coordinating with HR as needed and ensuring on time and accurate submissions.
- Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
