Maintenance Worker II
Wak'ishwi
Department of Tribal Health
Hourly Wage: $18.23/Regular/Full-Time
Performs general carpentry, electrical, heating & air conditioning, painting, and plumbing duties as required to repair, modify, and/or construct facilities under the scope of the Yakama Nation Facility Wak'ishwi Program. Performs grounds maintenance and janitorial duties, maintain and monitors safety equipment, and operates and uses a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, janitorial equipment, and ground maintenance equipment, as needed to complete duties.
Examples of Work Performed:
Performs a variety of skilled trade work in the Wak'ishwi Building, mechanical, or base electrical trades, in the maintenance and repair of Yakama Nation Wak'ishwi furnishings, outside fitness areas and equipment.
Maintenance of the grounds for Wak'ishwi building/sites.
Maintenance of utility system for various sites, knowledge to diagnose and repair plumbing system typical of residential and light commercial buildings; install various plumbing fixtures and systems.
Performs a variety of electrical repairs and installations; installs and tests electrical fixtures, control equipment, and wiring; maintains and repairs electrical operated equipment. Performs carpentry duties with skill necessary to do renovation, alteration, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, partitions, doors, windows, wooden fixtures, install hardware on doors, windows, and furniture.
Performs painting of ceiling, walls, doors (interior and exterior); also varnishes. Removes lint scales and loose paint with steel brush and scraping, fills holes and cracks with patching putty. Uses oil base and water base paint, uses spray gun, paint brush or paint roller.
Performs other type of trades work including cement work, plastering, tiling, and carpeting.
Maintenance of Fitness Equipment.
Keeps track of and inventory of Wak'ishwi tools and equipment.
Assist Master Gardeners with Maintaining Wak'ishwi Gardens/Medicinal Forests.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment of one or more of the building, mechanical, and electrical trades.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in general building maintenance work.
Knowledge of residential and light commercial electrical systems in order to diagnose and select repair method for common electrical problem.
Skill in the use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trades applicable to work assignments.
Ability to perform skilled work in one or more trades.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to interpret plan associated with one or more trade.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Two years of work experience as a Facility Maintenance Worker I or within a position of equal experience.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
