The Vice President of Operations is a pivotal leadership role designed to elevate operational efficiency and sustain our growth trajectory. This position oversees the entirety of our operations, including demand forecasting, purchasing strategies, and logistics, ensuring that our product inventory aligns seamlessly with market demand. This role involves executive-level strategic oversight and leadership management of the customer care, warehouse, and building maintenance operations. Within six months, the VP of Operations will fully assimilate these responsibilities, fostering strategic and operational objectives and a culture of continuous improvement. This role demands a dynamic leader committed to driving our operational excellence and contributing significantly to our long-term success.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strategic Operational Leadership: Spearhead operational strategies to enhance efficiency across logistics, demand forecasting, and purchasing, aligning with market demand.
- Management of Direct Reports: Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the Director of Customer Care, Warehouse Manager, and the Building Maintenance Contractor, ensuring productivity and operational excellence.
- Inventory Optimization: Employ advanced forecasting techniques to maintain optimal inventory levels, directly overseeing the purchasing process to meet market demand. This role strategically orders our inventory and ensures a seamless alignment between our product offerings and market needs.
- Operational Efficiency: Drive initiatives to streamline customer care operations and warehouse processes for improved service delivery and operational cost management.
- Facilities Oversight: Oversee the contracted Building Maintenance team, ensuring all aspects of the facility's maintenance, repair, and custodial services are executed efficiently, aligning with our standards for quality and safety.
- Collaboration and Strategic Planning: Participate actively in executive leadership meetings, aligning operational strategies and our broader business goals and contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Lead significant organizational changes and process improvements, optimizing operational efficiency and adopting best practices in operations management.
- Project Quotation Leadership: Take the lead on generating and managing large customer quotes for projects, with a focus on hospitality environments and multifamily housing. This role involves collaborating with sales, customer service, and finance teams to develop competitive, accurate quotes that align with our standards for quality and value, ensuring our offerings meet the diverse needs of our customers.
- Logistics and Freight Contract Management: Direct responsibility for negotiating and managing contracts with ocean freight and domestic freight providers, including LTL carriers, UPS, and FedEx. This entails optimizing logistics strategies for inventory transportation to ensure cost-efficiency, reliability, and alignment with operational requirements and timelines.
- Executive Leadership: Partner with peer executive leadership team members to develop and provide strategic direction, ensure resources are available to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives and resolve critical issues that impede organizational success in alignment with our mission, vision, and core values of integrity, innovation, and quality.
Qualifications:
- Over 10 plus years of experience in operational leadership, preferably in manufacturing or consumer goods, focusing on demand forecasting, purchasing, and logistics. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher-level operational leadership is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams, including experience with direct management of customer care, warehouse operations, and external contractors.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and their application in enhancing operational efficiency.
- Exceptional strategic planning, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Resilient and adaptable, with a proven track record of leading change in a dynamic business environment.
- Lead demand forecasting and purchasing to align inventory with market demand, accounting for seasonal fluctuations and extended lead times from our Asian manufacturing partners.
Education / Certifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management or relevant field required.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
