Our recruiting firm has been retained by a mid-sized commercial services company to assist in their search for a Controller to add to their management team. Our client seeks a talented Controller to provide the financial support necessary to help take the company to the next level.
The Controller will be responsible for all accounting operations & staff including financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and setting up policies & procedures. In addition, the Controller will be responsible for driving results, minimizing costs, and providing financial direction. The company is growing, financially stable, people-oriented, led by an experienced team, and ready to add this critical position to provide the financial information and guidance to support the company’s upward trajectory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage the entire general accounting operations, including supervision of accounting team (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Billing, Payroll, and Treasury)
· Manage periodic close process including review of JE’s, accruals, reserves, reconciliations, and reporting of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
· Ensure correct revenue for all revenue transactions
· Provide financial guidance and expertise to increase company growth and profitability
· Develop & manage the quarterly forecast and annual budget process
· Prepare cash forecasts to ensure proper cash management
· Present complete and accurate reports to business leaders with follow up and corresponding supporting detail
· Prepare reports, analyses, and insights needed for management decision making and corporate reporting
· Ad hoc reporting and development of various analyses
· Proactively seek process improvements and cost savings opportunities and implement changes
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelors degree in Business; major in Accounting or Finance
· CPA, CMA or advanced degree a plus
· Public accounting experience a plus
· Minimum 6 years of relevant accounting and financial experience, including two years of progressive supervisory experience with ability to build & lead a growing team.
· Solid experience managing monthly close process, preparation of GAAP financials, reporting, and financial analysis
· Experience with WIP, Inventory Management, % Completion Accounting a plus
· Must be able to handle company growth and be promotable to handle increased volume & complexity of responsibilities within next 2 years.
· Ability to hire and build out accounting/finance team
· Experience developing budgets and forecasts
· Strong technical GAAP acumen
· Organized with the ability to meet deadlines with complete & accurate information
· Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel required)
· Strong system skills preferably with an ERP system
· Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial audience
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with positive, service-minded attitude
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
