Controller
Local Manufacturer located in Sophia, NC is in search of a Controller.
The Controller is responsible for all accounting activities including financial reporting, treasury, and tax. In addition, the Controller oversees accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger functions. This role is highly visible throughout the company. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing operations and proficiency in financial management.
The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a finance leadership role, preferably in furniture manufacturing. A 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting is mandatory and advanced degrees in Finance and/or MBA/CPA is preferred. 5 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Maintain procedures to ensure accurate month-end, quarterly and year-end closings (production, inventory, expense accruals, etc.) and associated financial statements.
- Primary executive contact with factors
- Manage daily cash requirements to maximize cash flow includes working with multiple factors.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts that tie to product cost.
- Measure actual factory production cost to product cost (standards); identify variances and work on corrective action.
- Prepare weekly 13-week cash forecast.
- Daily reporting on shipments and bookings and other KPIs.
- Oversees the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices.
- Ensures company’s financial statements are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Oversees accuracy of Bill of Materials for manufacturing product cost.
- This position manages a team of 6-8 staff members.
- Review and procure all lines of general liability and property insurance.
- Review and procure all lines of employee benefit insurances (medical, dental, STD, LTD, life, etc.)
- File all related tax returns associated with benefit plans (5500)

- Proven ability to prioritize objectives and duties. A willingness to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound planning and organizational skills
- OSHA and state and federal rules and guidelines related to personnel and human resource management.
- Strong Excel skills and full Microsoft Office Suite Products.
- AS400 experience desirable not required.
