NETWORK ENGINEER
DURATION: FTE
LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ (Camelback and 35th Ave)
SALARY: $95K - $110K
SUMMARY: This role participates in full life cycle management of campus and data center networks including LAN, WLAN, WAN, network security and associated technologies. The network engineer designs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots network systems, leads network projects and discussions around new technologies, presents network reports and solutions to management as well as trains and supports team members. As part of this process, the network engineer will create proper documentation, diagrams and other detailed design, operational, and procedural instructions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research and recommend upgrades/optimizations of deployed technologies.
- Participate in network infrastructure design and implementation projects.
- Manage, support and troubleshoot complex network topologies and systems (Routing, Switching, Load Balancing, Firewalls, VPN).
- Conduct packet capture analysis and troubleshooting.
- Coordinates development of overall project plans and timetables.
- Develops reports and presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for all levels of management and technical staff
- Provides technical support and training to the team and other stakeholders
- Works across infrastructure and development teams to foster trust and strong working relationships
- Views projects holistically and values individual contributions as efforts by a team of equal peers
- Able to work "on call" as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Core Technical Competencies:
Include, but are not limited to, the following: Must have advanced knowledge and experience demonstrating expert application:
- Enterprise network design - 2-tier, 3-tier architectures, redundancy
- Analyze packet flow (unicast, multicast, and broadcast)
- Switching and Routing concepts (access ports, spanning tree, 802.1, Etherchannel, Distance vector vs linked state, load balancing, etc)
- Switching and Routing protocols (RSTP /MST, LACP, PC/vPC, IGMP, EIGRP, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, MP-BGP, PIM, FHRP (HSRP, VRRP), etc)
- IP Services - DHCP, DNS, NTP, NAT/PAT
- Network Security - ACLs, CoPP, Dynamic ARP Inspection, DHCP Snooping, Port Security
- Troubleshooting and monitoring: Debugs, trace route, ping, SNMP, syslog, NetFlow, SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN, IPSLA, streaming telemetry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of service desk problem management systems, information technology trends and requirements gathering techniques.
- Strong knowledge of common types of attacks against systems and networks and common vulnerabilities; theoretical underpinnings of computer security and its forensics.
- Highly analytical and an excellent problem solver with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with competing demands in an effective and productive manner, with a systematic approach to identifying issues.
- Methodical and accurate while delivering to deadlines.
- Good performance turning and troubleshooting skills critical.
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient with ability to work under minimal supervision.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical discipline acquired through a regionally accredited institution preferred.
- 10 years’ experience as a system or network administrator.
- 5 years’ experience in the network engineering role.
- Experience with or substantial knowledge in most of the following areas:
- System administration
- Operational details of multiple operating systems
- Core internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP)
- MPLS
- SDN
- Automation
- Some Python scripting
