Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled EDM Wire Operator to join our team. As an EDM Wire Operator, you will be responsible for writing, testing, and maintaining computer programs and software applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze user needs and develop efficient solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in programming languages and is detail-oriented.
Responsibilities:
Understand, operate, set-up, service and adjust EDM machines.
Rework existing geometry as needed to meet production needs.
Work closely with blueprints.
Inspect tooling for defects both visually and with instruments.
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workstation.
Ensure all safety guards are in place, report any defective guards to supervisor.
Pre and final machine preparations including computer programming.
Optimize models to repair tool paths with CAD/CAM software.
Setting machine parameters.
Creates own program line-ups using VISI CAM.
Inspection of created parts, recording quality control, and production output information.
Accurately machine parts to print on 3D files with provided tolerances.
Follow all safety requirements and maintain certifications for each CNC Machine.
Inspect the machinery and product for quality assurance.
Keep all machines and work areas clean and organized.
Perform equipment set-ups and perform off sets to keep tolerance.
Handle all tools and materials appropriately and safely.
Run large CNC surface grinder.
Program and/or desire to learn programming through time, along with, ability to operate computer equipment/operating programs such as Siemans NX, Prototrack and VISI
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.
CAD/CAM background. Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Understand and employ EDM technology, programming, and theory.
Knowledge of wire burn theory and operation.
Basic knowledge of die build.
Knowledge and understanding of the metric system.
Blueprint reading.
Ability to create program line-ups using VISI CAM.
Skills:
Strong communication and writing abilities.
Must have a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
Able to use calipers, micrometers, general tool maker tools, surface grinders, cutoff saw, pedestal grinder, optical comparator, precision measuring tools, layout tools, and hand tools.
Able to follow detailed instructions to complete work activities including blueprint reading and verification of conformance/dimensional/part layout to CAD data/blueprint specs.
Ability to check tool drawings for errors in dimensions, fits, and clearances, along with, communicating issues to the supervisor.
Able to do precision work and perform very tight tolerances.
Drive to excel in an academic and training environment while also being able to work in a non-production volume setting.
Attention to detail is a must.
Ability to Multi-task
