What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Confidential?
Core Responsibilities:
- Manages the flow, recording, and processing of purchasing documents including RFQ’s, purchase orders, SCAR reports, etc.
- Negotiates best price, service, and delivery with vendors while controlling cost requirements
- Expedites orders that are critical to the manufacturing operation and orders that are behind schedule
- Search/qualify/source new vendors for problematic supplies and continuous improvement
- Manage cycle count activities to ensure proper counts are conducted and the inventory is accurate, and determine root cause for discrepancies; participates in physical inventory when scheduled
- Optimize inventory levels in order to minimize inventory investment while achieving the desired target service levels for customers
- Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
- Anticipate lead times necessary to allow for the manufacturing, packaging and shipping of finished goods to customers by their scheduled dock dates
Additional Responsibilities
- Answer Phones
- Enters BOM’s and completes pre and final build assemblies in inventory system
- Assist in Shipping and Receiving
Required Experience
- Machining process knowledge highly desired
- Purchasing Software Experience Required, QuickBooks a plus.
- Microsoft Office Experience Required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and negotiating skills
- 2 years of purchasing experience preferred
Physical Demands
This is a blended role that combines sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, and carrying up to 75 pounds based on task. Mostly a sedentary role, there is an element (such as inspections, inventory, shipping, etc.) where the position will require the above listed abilities.
Travel
Frequent domestic/local (back by end of day) travel required.
