What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety/Training Coordinator position at Confidential?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (to include, but not limited to):

GENERAL

  • Possess a SAFETY- FIRST mindset. Coach and motivator of people; inspires by example, unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Support business plan goals; monitor tasks to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Ensure consistent and professional communication with all levels of management, drivers, customers and government representatives.
  • Solve problems and resolve issues and concerns that impact operational performance.
  • Act as a role model for all associates and adhere to the company core values.
  • Anticipate potential problems and apply solutions and preventative measures.
  • Support daily / weekly / monthly Safety and Environmental metrics and reporting.
  • Serve as a SME for FMCSA Safety Regulations and Compliance.

SAFETY

  • Participate in driver application reviews, including:

o MVR record checks

o FMCSA Clearinghouse inquiries

o Coordinate Road Test

o Set up FMCSA Driver Qualification files

  • Assist in safety incident classification, investigation methodologies, root cause analyses and corrective action development.
  • Support regulatory and compliance requirements for OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, C-TPAT, PIP and other government agencies.
  • Review in-cab event videos to identify poor driver performance. Communicate findings to Operations Management for improvement in driving behavior and safety culture.

TRAINING

  • Deliver new driver Safety orientation.
  • Coordinate with Operations for initial driver training with seasoned drivers.
  • Train drivers to Smith System program (including periodic in-cab instruction/reviews).
  • Facilitate Safety training to Associates of all operation levels.
  • Educate and train drivers on Safety standards and processes, source outside resources as necessary.
  • Create / maintain driver training material for any onboard ELD systems.
  • Assist in the implementation of programs designed to achieve zero injuries, accidents and improve the safety culture.

PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS (to include, but not limited to):

  • Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance (C-TPAT, PIP, UCR, etc.).
  • Assist in creating / delivering driver safety communications (i.e. - safety bulletins, electronic communications, driver safety meeting material)
  • Travel to other locations (US or Canada) when necessary, including accident scenes and company domicile locations
  • Aid in fuel island maintenance and clean-up of environmental spills
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements (education, experience, skills, licenses and/or certifications):

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Fundamental understanding of class 8 truck/trailer systems operation
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities
  • Creative analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, including dealing with difficult and stressful situations
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office suite, Excel emphasis)
  • Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • TMW software knowledge preferred
  • Functional knowledge of ELD systems preferred
  • CDL license preferred
  • Must be able to get a Passport
  • Be able to obtain and maintain Smith System Trainer Certification
  • Must be detail oriented and consistently meet commitments
  • Possess good time management and planning skills, can multi-task and prioritize effectively

  • The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and/or hear.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
  • May be exposed to typical automotive grade chemicals (fuel, oil, grease, etc.).
  • May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain/snow, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
