G.W. Becker, Inc. (GWBI) is looking for a Shop Floor Supervisor who will be responsible for managing multiple department functions including production, machining and materials management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate activities of the operations department related to the production and distribution of products.
  • Develop and update production schedules and make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Develop or implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports to detect issues in production.
  • Oversee administrative activities directly related to manufacturing products or providing services.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, or procedures in conjunction with other management team members.
  • Ensure that manufacturing delivery dates are met.
  • Ensure that manufacturing personnel have the proper tooling.
  • Enforce safety, attendance and compliance to company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate production requirements with the sales, engineering and service as required.
  • Set and monitor product standards to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
  • Develop budgets or approves expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Determine staffing requirements, and interviews, hires and trains new employees, evaluates performance, issues disciplinary actions or discharges employees to resolve conduct issues or oversees those personnel processes.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Desire to pursue training opportunities to continuously build knowledge and skills. Must be willing to cooperate and share expertise with others.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of prior experience in manufacturing environment required, preferably in heavy job shop manufacturing
  • Associate degree is desired
  • Five years of previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Current valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Prior overhead crane experience is a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the production, machining and materials management departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
