Summary
The Urgent Care Nurse provides direct and indirect professional nursing patient care in the urgent care setting that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional practice and with a minimum of supervision. Obtains assessment data, determines priorities of care and implements appropriate interventions based on identification of physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the department. Monitors effectiveness and patient response to interventions and treatments implemented. Functions effectively and coordinates planning of care within the multidisciplinary team. Documents pertinent, accurate and complete patient information reflective of Urgent Care provided.
Position Reports To: Practice Manager
Essential Functions
- All Urgent Care RN will be competent in techniques of walk in and emergency patient care, and the use of all special equipment in the department.
- Provide leadership, daily direction and supervision to the healthcare team in delivery of quality patient care. Communicates effectively with each team member.
- Be knowledgeable about the department's Standard of Care & Practice and function at a level to assure deliver of those standards. These include intravenous and respiratory treatment skills.
- Actively participates is Lean Projects supporting CH Value Stream.
- Serves as a liaison with other health care teams and agencies and services to promote coordianted health care across the continuum.
- Delegate to other members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Qualifications
Required:
- Current licensure in the state of Washington (RCW 18.88) or licensure through Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (SSB 5499).
- Nurses will exhibit strong clinical skills and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- All Registered Nurses will be certified BLS (AHA) upon hire and ACLS, PALS within one year of hire. It is further required that certifications be kept current.
- Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
- Must be able to effectively use the electronic medical record utilized at Confluence Health.
Desired:
- One year clinical experience in either outpatient or inpatient care setting.

Working Conditions:
- Work is performed at a work station and in patient exam and treatment rooms, where space may be limited and confined. Requires a combinations of working independently and also working closely with others. Hours may be irregular at times allowing for shift rotations, working holidays and weekends; overtime may be required. Requires working under stressful conditions with acutely ill patients. General supervision is provided by the Practice Manager with additional instructions, guidance, and directions provided by the physicians or APCs with whom the RN is working.
