Responsibilities
Work under the supervision of the director. Responsible for training members on an individual, fee-for-service basis. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
- Perform initial assessment on all new clients and designs exercise programs based on client’s needs.
- Demonstrate and teach safe and effective training techniques using guidelines established by the personal training supervisor.
- Ability to conduct monthly clinics for all members.
- Communicate effectively with clients while instructing them in one–on– one training sessions.
- Serves as a motivator for personal training clients to keep exercising and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Answer member and non-member questions about personal training.
- Maintain accurate records and progress charts of personal training appointments and clients.
- Notify director if any unusable equipment is found.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and be compensated at an hourly rate.
Qualifications
Education: High school education required. Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, sports medicine or related field is preferredExperience: Fitness experience in a club setting is preferred.Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, ACSM, ASCA, or Cooper Institute is required. Must have a current NCCA accredited personal training certificationLife Support: AHA BLS-HCP certification required or obtained within 90-days of hire.Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills. The ability to work one-on-one without direct supervision on a regular basis is required. Individual will be required to demonstrate abilities to the personal training supervisor prior to beginning work.
