Job Description
Shomrei Emunah in Montclair NJ, a play based preschool is seeking a dynamic, warm, and experienced Lead Teacher to join the 2 year old class. The Lead Teacher will work closely with assistant teachers in the class to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and to support the academic and social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care.
The Lead Teacher is a part-time M-F 8:30-12 with an option to add hours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures and maintains a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
• Creates play based lessons, activities and crafts to meet the goals of the 2’s classroom.
• Supervises and trains assistant teachers and updates them on all matters concerning the classroom and curriculum.
• Develops weekly lesson plans with assistant teachers’ input to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development.
• Uses creative approaches that engage children, appeal to multiple intelligences, and acknowledge individual learning differences.
• Communicates and collaborates regularly with parents, in person and using a variety of media. • Leads parent-teacher conferences, writes conference reports, and compiles examples of children’s work.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional development opportunities offered by Shomrei and outside organizations.
Participation in afterschool events, conferences, and staff meetings once a month is required. The school year runs from 9/1 to 6/15.
QUALIFICATIONS
• B.A., preferably in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. (CDA accepted also)
• A minimum of three years of teaching experience in a preschool or other work with children as young as 2 years old.
• A passion for early childhood education and commitment to progressive educational philosophy.
• A collaborative work style and strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with Jewish values, holidays, and customs is preferred but not required.
