The Overview In pursuit of service excellence, the Congressional Schools Pool Operator provides facility monitoring for an aquatic environment for patrons of all ages and backgrounds. This position will ensure the safety of all patrons, ensure proper pool chemistry, repair, and inspect pool pumps, filters, and plumbing, provide exceptional customer service, and other duties assigned. Pool operators also perform as lifeguards and must have lifeguard certifications and credentials. Pool Operators may serve as the aquatics shift leader and may provide direction and leadership to lifeguards on their shift. What You Should Bring Each member of our team is accountable for the outstanding delivery of services to the school and camp community including scheduled seasonal duties and assignments. You should possess knowledge of water safety along with experience operating active public swimming pools with multiple user groups and activities. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean swimming pool environment. You should lead by example, demonstrate a commitment to excellence, deliver exceptional patron experiences, and be available for flexible work assignments in the early morning, mid-day, evenings, and/or weekends. Minimum & Additional Requirements
- Leads the aquatics team during each shift
- Observes and enforces state licensed aquatic center rules and regulations.
- Performs daily pool chemistry, filtration, and custodial maintenance duties to ensure the safe and clean aquatic facility environment.
- Maintains equipment ensuring that equipment is safe, clean, and in working order and that supplies are adequate for operation of the facility.
- Administers emergency and routine first aid calmly with good judgment during all stressful situations.
- Performs routine pool maintenance tasks, including cleaning the pool deck, removing debris from the pool and pool area, and performing daily water tests.
- Responds quickly to all emergency situations and follows standardized rescue procedures per Red Cross Lifeguard training.
- Responds to emergency situations such as pool contamination, equipment failure, and severe weather conditions.
- Completes daily log and maintains reports. Accurately and completely fills out required forms relating to aquatic facility incidents/accidents and submits to supervisor.
- Maintains continuous watch on the aquatic facility and participants to prevent injury and minimize or eliminate an aquatic emergency.
- Responds to patron questions and concerns in a positive and professional matter.
- Function effectively as a team member.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum & Additional Requirements
- CPR/AED and First AID certified from American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certification provider.
- Lifeguard certification from American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certification provider.
- Certified Pool Operator License from a nationally recognized certification provider.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation procedures.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Applicants must attach the required certifications applicable to this position to be eligible.
- Lifeguard: 3 years (Preferred)
- Pool Operator Technician: 2 years (Preferred)
