JOB SUMMARY
As a Fiber Engineer/Lead you will ensure the execution for overall operations across multiple markets, including scheduling, training, remote troubleshooting help, test and tool equipment issues and returns, design changes, as-built design, parts inventory, job readiness and job completion. This is an opportunity to help build, grow, and train a team from the ground up.

Operations excellence: Cross-functional partnership to address escalations and solutions to resolve issues timely. Communicate daily field activities with field staff and leadership to keep projects on schedule while meeting budget requirements. Develop and implement process improvements seeking feedback to identify gaps and sustainability. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and comfortable leading through ambiguity to achieve business goals. This person will be able to remotely walk a technician thru the practical steps from installation to troubleshooting.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee Daily field operations: coordinate activities of splicers in the field across multiple markets.
- Ensure jobs are completed, and closed in systems for accurate tracking and billing
- Ensure field techs are adequately trained and capable of performing assigned duties
- Responsible for proper as built documents, and backups for work performed
- Help field techs with complex design issues and troubleshooting when necessary
- Work to make design changes where needed and necessary or work with fiber designer to get bigger redesigns done
- Periodic QCs of field work
- Ensure as built documents are complete and meet customer standards
- Mentor field staff to ensure accurate and successful work completion including understanding of design and symbols.
- Review design drawings to check and validate path and address conflicts.
- Cross-Functional meetings with various departments and teams for implementation of day’s activities
- Assess Field Quality Control of workmanship and provide feedback to field staff as it relates to corrections.
- Identify and align training needs and gaps based on new hire training assessments including training on meters and other test equipment with field staff
- Collaborate with the coax team to rectify any issues that stem from fiber continuity issues
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years’ experience in the CATV industry and able to troubleshoot complex fiber issues.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of DWDM & CDWM solutions.
- Read and understand CATV system blueprints and fiber optic cut sheets
- Able to work flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends as needed.
- Willing to travel 25% as needed outside the state of hire to support operations.
- Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass thorough background and drug screening
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years’ experience working with DWDM optical networks
- Fiber design engineering experience
