Position: School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify communication disorders and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Provide direct therapeutic interventions to address speech and language difficulties in students, fostering improved communication skills and academic success.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies that support students' speech and language needs in the classroom environment.
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and reassessment to adjust intervention strategies and goals as needed.
- Work closely with parents and caregivers to provide guidance, support, and resources for promoting speech and language development at home.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute valuable insights to the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant records.
- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology to enhance service delivery.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives related to communication and language development.
- Collaborate with community resources and external service providers to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure and certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a school setting is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment tools and therapeutic techniques.
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet the individual needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with evidence-based practices.
