What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at Connecticut Humane Society?
Connecticut Humane Society is seeking a Facilities Manager who will be responsible for repairs and improvements at the three shelters and our veterinary clinic throughout Connecticut. This position will administer and monitor all maintenance issues, preventive maintenance programs, safety inspections and oversee contracted firms providing maintenance. This role will be engaged in operational and system enhancements, vendor identification, service programs and preventative maintenance program development. Working in conjunction with the Director of Operations, create short term and long term maintenance, service, and repair plan for all three facilities and any capital improvement projects. Master all aspects of operations of shelter equipment, mechanical systems, animal care equipment and ensure they are maintained in complete working order. Negotiate and manage maintenance contracts for all facilities in conjunction with that shelter's management staff. Responsible for the company's fleet of vehicles and lawn care machinery. This position will also oversee and manage the facilities/maintenance budgets and all financial components of facility maintenance and repair contracts. This position will also require some hands on work as well as make emergency repairs. The incumbent must also have experience with construction/project management. Responsible for the hiring, supervision, promotion, discipline, and provision of continuous feedback to direct report.
This full-time salaried position with benefits is ideal for someone with a bachelors degree in construction, facilities management or engineering, or equivalent work experience in a similar position and secondary degree in HVAC, electrical or other technical field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities management as well as similar length of time in staff management required. This position needs to have the ability to evaluate and solve problems and have sound judgment and effective decision- making skills. Days / Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday with emergency call-in's as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Secondary Degree in HVAC, electrical or technical field.
- Experience: At least 5 yrs in facilities management and supervising staff.
- Skills: This position requires strenuous physical activity, including but not limited to walking, bending, standing, stretching, climbing stairs and ladders, and the ability to lift to 50 pounds. Knowledge of HVAC maintenance and electrical experience required as well as past experience with construction project management.
- Technology: Proficiency in computer and database systems.
