ABOUT THE POSITION:
The residential Youth Counselor/Mentor is dedicated to the direct supervision of adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program. Youth Counselors/Mentors cultivate a safe, healthy, therapeutic, nurturing and caring home environment that is supportive of each participant's individualized social, emotional, and academic development needs. Youth Counselors/Mentors are positive role models offering support, strength-based encouragement and protection of youth in their care, advocating for youth and sharing information and updates with parents/guardians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree (or 60 completed credits) in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Human Services
- Two years of experience providing direct care to adolescent boys (preferred)
- Knowledge of strength-based and trauma sensitive programming (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work with youth
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license / no traffic violations on record
